A Modern Family Sanctuary in Abingdon
What does a 'family garden' mean when your children are grown? For this Abingdon client, it meant creating a sophisticated and intensely private sanctuary. The vision was for a space that was perfect for quiet relaxation for two, yet versatile and welcoming enough to host visiting family and friends for gatherings. It needed to be stylish, secluded, and structured.
The finished project is a stylish and intensely private outdoor room, where the warm tones of natural wood create a cohesive and tranquil atmosphere. It is a modern interpretation of a family garden – a sophisticated retreat that offers a perfect escape for the homeowners, with ample, elegant space to create new memories when the whole family comes together.
Our Vision
Our design focused on creating a chic, contemporary space using the warm, natural textures of wood. A stylish raised deck, built with premium decking boards, now provides the perfect, low-maintenance platform for outdoor living and dining.
To add a bold, structural look and to frame the deck, we used rustic oak sleepers. These provide a clear definition to the space and add a touch of timeless character.
Finally, to create the essential sense of a private retreat, the entire garden was enclosed with modern slat fencing and a new border of thoughtfully selected trees. This ensures total seclusion and a feeling of being in one's own private world.
